Contrasti is a documentary project exploring the relationship between industry, landscape and collective identity in Rosignano Solvay, a town founded alongside the chemical plants established by Ernest Solvay at the beginning of the twentieth century.

For generations, the factory represented economic stability and social development. Entire neighbourhoods, services and communities grew around its presence, creating a territory whose history became inseparable from industrial production.

Today, however, the same landscape reveals a more complex reality. As industrial activity gradually declines, traces of its environmental impact remain visible throughout the territory. White beaches, often perceived as idyllic and exotic, coexist with warning signs, industrial infrastructures and memories of contamination.

The project focuses on these visual and cultural contradictions. Moving between abandoned structures, residential areas, artificial coastlines and industrial horizons, the photographs document a place suspended between gratitude and criticism, prosperity and environmental cost.

Rather than offering answers, Contrasts observes how a community continues to negotiate its relationship with a landscape that is simultaneously inherited, transformed and contested.
